Abstract
The project of converting carbon dioxide (CO₂) into fuel and electricity is an innovative initiative that aims to utilize CO₂, one of the main greenhouse gases responsible for climate change, and transform it into useful and sustainable energy sources. The project relies on advanced technologies such as electrochemical reduction or artificial photosynthesis to convert CO₂, captured either from the atmosphere or industrial sources, into fuels such as ethanol, methanol, or hydrogen, in addition to generating clean electricity.
The core idea is based on using renewable energy, such as solar or wind power, to drive the conversion processes. For example, solar energy can be used to activate chemical catalysts that break down CO₂ molecules and combine them with hydrogen (extracted from water) to produce liquid fuels. At the same time, electricity can be generated either as part of the process or as a by-product through integrated photovoltaic systems.
The project seeks to achieve dual environmental and economic goals: reducing carbon emissions into the atmosphere and providing a sustainable alternative to conventional fossil fuels. Moreover, it promotes the concept of a circular economy by recycling CO₂ instead of releasing it as waste. Despite technical challenges such as high costs and scalability, this project represents a promising step toward a more sustainable energy future.
